Year 3 & 4 Isle of Sheppey History Trip
Year 3 & 4 had a wonderful AND busy day exploring the local history of our island. We started our day at the Bluetown heritage centre, where we learnt many interesting facts and took part in various activities. We explored what the island would have looked like many years ago and heard a rather disgusting story about Lord Nelson! We even got to perform on the Criterion stage, singing sea shanties.
Following this, we made our way to the sea wall to view the SS Richard Montgomery wreck. We made a pit stop to the the sand pit for a lovely sunny picnic 🌞 We even managed to sneak in an ice cream!
Then, we ventured up to Eastchurch to see the memorial commemorating the first home of British Aviation.
Next, we travelled to Leysdown to see the Short brothers statue.
Finally, we made our way back to Minster to explore one of the oldest buildings in the country - Minster Abbey.
What a day! And what a fabulous island we live on?
