This week’s classroom story
Superheroes!
This term the children have been having a whale of a time creating their own superheroes : what they look like , what their setting looks like, creating their own superpowers and this week the children are making up who their superhero would have as a sidekick.
By the end of next week the children will be putting all their work together to write an amazing descriptive story of their superhero.
Maths
This week we are looking at problem solving. Picking out key information in a question and using that to correctly write down the calculation of the sum and answer the question.
We had a great start this morning on one step problems and will continue to build on what we know to move on to two step problems by the end of the week.
Friday afternoon P.E in the sunshine with Years 1 & 2 ☀️
After a long week of SATs it was time to let our hair down and enjoy some bat and ball time. We definitely have some great cricketers in the making .






PE fun in the sun!
Year 1 & 2 had fun in the sun during their PE lesson with Miss Mead. They were practicing their throwing and catching skills.
Position and Direction
In Maths we have been learning about directions. We were turning half a turn and a quarter of a turn in the classroom.
Making helicopters in Science!
Year 1 & 2 had fun in science today learning about all the different Types of seeds dispersal and we made sycamore "Helicopters".
Once they were made we lifted them high in the sky and released them to see which ones spun as they flew.
Height and Length
In Maths this term we have been looking at height and length using meters and centimeters. We had fun in the classroom measuring different objects using cubes.

Practising some of the words we found hard.
On Friday 11th March we took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for prostate cancer.
We really enjoyed ourselves. A big thank you to the parent helpers who gave us words of encouragement and drinks of water to keep us hydrated!
Science
Year 1 and 2 spent the lesson outside, observing their environment carefully, looking around for different objects and what materials they are made from.
For World Book Day we had fun making dragons based from the book 'Zog'.




Year 2 have had a great time making playdoh 'Zog' dragons.

This year is the 25th anniversary of 'World Book Day'
In celebration, we have launched a reading challenge for children to complete at home. Please see the attached document below for all details, good luck!!
Science
Year 2 have been finding out all about materials. They were predicting, then investigating which materials they could squash, bend, stretch and twist.
They then thought about which materials would be best to make certain objects.
Maths-
Week beginning 7/3/22 -We are going to be continuing our work on looking at 2D and 3D shapes.
Last week in maths we looked at lines of symmetry.
Can you find some symmetry around you ....in nature? In the buildings you see? In foods?
In Maths we have looked at 2D and 3D shapes... remember your pen to draw a pentagon which has 5 sides.
Hexagon has an x helping us to remember it has six sides.
We used 2D and 3D shapes to make some pictures and then named the shapes and their properties.
We will also continue to practice our multiplication knowledge.
English
Week beginning 7/3/22 - are going to be revising parts of speech- such as nouns, adjectives, verbs etc.
and looking at some comprehension passages.
